Brief History
The first major event in Ancient History that was crucial to it's development was the separation of Upper and Lower Egypt. The entire civilization thrived off of the Nile River and it's valley, which is something else that made the society flourish significantly. Egyptians at this point in time believed in multiple gods and goddesses, as well as concepts such as the afterlife. They praised upper beings such as Pharaohs and Priests as well and learned how to preserve bodies to carry them into another life. They learned to build ships and pyramids, as well as other important and crucial materials for survival and cultural needs. Next, the Medieval Period came around when the idea of Islamization was brought to this country. Arab leaders brought over the religion which is the cause of the spread of Islam over Egypt today. Christianity was also tried by Egyptians but was not as successful. In 1869 there was a joining of the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea by the Suez Canal. Following this event in history is the domination of Egypt by the British and then Egypt declaring independence in 1922. Presidencies have since been occurring in the political aspect of the country. Today, Egypt is run by President Mohamed Morsi who was elected in 2012.
