Gender Roles
It is apparent that there is a sense of inequality between men and women in Egypt as well as many countries around the world. Will this common misconception of "lesser human beings" ever go away? Here is some information about the gender roles in Egypt's present day society.
First off, the men are seen as the higher being in society. The men are thought to go out and support the family financially and as a leader. Men are also known to be "in charge" of women, often because the women's sexuality is "endangering the social harmony of society" ("Egypt - Gender" 2011). These men are allowed to up to four wives without being judged, but are not allowed to temporary marriage (compare anything). The Qur'an plays a large role in what the man is responsible for as well.
Woman are certainly looked down upon as stated previously. They are ordered to dress modestly, as if not to "disrupt" societal opinions and ideas. These women, just as many others all around the world, are expected to be in the home caring for the children and most importantly, the husband. The Qur'an discussed the different tendencies of women as well as their place in society according to the Islamic faith. ("Egypt - Gender" 2011) Another aspect of the women's role is how much they have struggled politically. The pre-existing notions of a woman's role impact how much they are worthy of, not to mention how much they could achieve if given the voice ("Interview with val," 2011). Uprisings continue to happen everyday in order to provide middle-eastern women with a stronger, more authoritative, push towards a more sound social representation.

Cultural Diversity
Cultural diversity is in direct relation to biodiversity because the cultures of all of the human beings on the earth are apart of a living species, and interact with nature in everyday life. Cultural rituals often have to do with food which comes from biodiversity in different animals or plants we eat. Another example includes the interactions and relationships humans have with other living things on this planet, such as animals and other individuals through worship in a religious view of culture. Once the biodiversity on this Earth is threatened, Cultures may not be able to participate in all of the cultural activities and traditions if they do not have the resources any longer. Threatening the life on this planet is terrible in the first place because each and every species provides some sort of meaning and uniqueness to the table. Once it starts affecting cultural diversity, it will be much more difficult for cultures to share their backgrounds with other cultures, therefore, the variety in the world will start to dwindle down. As this process progresses, eventually all living things will be similar, and boring, and may not be able to thrive like we can now. I do agree that the government should make an effort to preserve the rights of cultural diversity and biodiversity because they are so significant to our society.
