Biodiversity in Egypt
There is a significance of the placement of Egypt on the map in relation to it's biodiversity. Egypt is located on the Northeast corner of Africa, near the junction of four bio geographical regions. These regions include: the Mediterranean, Afrotropical, Irano-Turanian, and Saharo-Sindian areas (EEAA). We also know that this country is divided by the Nile River, and has a rather arid and dry climate which take role in the biodiversity. There is an extreme element of cold snow on some mountains at certain times of the year and the hot deserts that take over the land in Egypt (EEAA). Also, Egypt is surrounded by the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, which are full of coral reefs with endangered species. Preservation of ecosystems, habitats, and organisms is extremely important near Egypt so that these species will not disappear forever.
Egypt ranges for Sub-Saharan species to Eurasian species because of it's location and climate (EEAA). Some examples of popular animals that thrive in Egypt include: reptiles, scorpions, camels, desert foxes, and a plethora of marine animals in the seas. There are not endless amounts of these unique species as well as others, which is why Egypt's biodiversity is in danger of losing important organisms. The low number of biological species and the high number of eco-zones is the main cause of the significance of preservation of biodiversity in this country (touregypt). Besides the mammals and other organisms, even the humans have made a huge impact on the land. The variety in type of people that migrate to this land has shaped it into what Egypt is today. Religion, food, ethnicity, animals, plants, have all changed over time and brought creative and authentic qualities to the people of this land.
